My interests are plant ecology, physiological ecology, community ecology, and tropical ecology. Locally, I study rare plant communities and the impact of white-tailed deer on forest regeneration.

My interests are in lake studies, specifically the interaction between aquatic organisms and their environmental. My current research uses non-native species to elucidate the biological processes of predation and competition.

My interests include Ballet Pedagogy from a Laban/ Bartenieff movement analysis perspective, contemporary dance choreography and performance, community arts programming and outreach and somatic education.
Tom Drennen
I am interested in all things related to energy. I have developed several policy models that explore the complex tradeoffs between economic growth, energy, and the environment. To protect the environment, we must find ways to become a lot smarter with our energy use.
Darrin Magee
I teach environmentally-focused courses on Asia/China, and a locally focused course on garbage, as well an introductory course on energy and occasionally water. I also focus on water and energy environmental issues in China, especially in relation to water use, hydroelectric dams, and the electricity sector.
Robin Lewis
I teach courses on biodiversity, human geography, development, and sustainable consumption. My research focuses on sustainability and the politics of natural resource management focusing on a national forest certification scheme in Malaysia and more recently the impact of changing climate on food security in Central Java, Indonesia.
Steven Lee
In addition to my interests in environmental ethics and environmental justice, I teach and write in the areas of social justice and the ethics of war.
Scott Brophy
I am interested in the intersection of philosophy and public policy, especially in the areas of law, education, and the environment. I also study the history of philosophy, and philosophical problems about science that are linked to policy questions, such as evolution and climate change.
Tara Curtin
I study lake deposits in order to infer information about past climate change in places such as Argentina, Spain, Utah, and the Finger Lakes of New York.
John Halfman
I am interested in geolimnology, hydrogeochemistry, paleoclimatology, and sedimentology. At HWS, I teach courses in the Geoscience and Environmental Studies Departments and lead research on Seneca Lake.
Paul Kehle
I am fascinated by mathematics, cognition, teacher education, and mathematics education in particular. I conduct collaborative research with undergraduate students and with high school teachers and their students.
Susan Cushman
I am a biologist who studies streams, the organisms that live within and around stream channels, and how the way we use the land within a stream’s watershed impacts who lives there.
